WATER 

Port of Memphis:

While there are no major ports located within Tippah County, the Port of Memphis is located 70 miles away in neighboring Tennessee. The Port of Memphis is the fourth-largest inland port in the United States, and ranks number one in the nation in foreign import tonnage. More than 30 international freight forwarders operate in Memphis.

 

Port of Itawamba: 

Tippah County is located within 62 miles of the Port of Itawamba. The Port is located on the Tennessee-Tombigbee Waterway. Being the only inland slip on the waterway, Port Itawamba is your headquarters for total logistic solutions. Tenn_Tom Waterway: 

Tippah County is located within 35 miles of The Tennessee–Tombigbee Waterway (popularly known as the Tenn-Tom). The Tenn Tom is a 234-mile (377-kilometer) man-made waterway. The Tennessee–Tombigbee Waterway links commercial navigation from the nation’s midsection to the Gulf of Mexico.

The Tenn-Tom encompasses 17 public ports and terminals, 110,000 acres (450 km2) of land, and another 88,000 acres (360 km2) managed by state conservation agencies for wildlife habitat preservation and recreational use.

Highways

Tippah County is home to one interstate highway – I-72. Interstate 72 provides a four-lane east/west corridor. Those in the western portion of the county have easy access to U. S. Highway 78, designated Interstate 22, and the eastern portion to U. S. Highway 45, both built as four-lane corridors. U. S. Highway 15 also provides a north/south connection through the entire County. Hwy 15 will schedule to be upgraded to four lane corridor in the near future. Rail

BNSF Railway and Grenada Railway (formerly CN) serve as the county’s rail lines. All six Class I rail systems serve Memphis, Tennessee, and all have intermodal yards in Memphis or West Memphis, Arkansas. An Intermodal SuperTerminal will be located on 1000 acres in Southwest Memphis near Tippah County and will consolidate five Class I rail yards.

 

Air

The Metro Park Airport located in Olive Branch is the second-busiest airport in the State of Mississippi. The airport has a 6000-foot paved and lighted runway, offers charter service, and new air traffic control tower.  Olive Branch AirNav; Olive Branch GlobalAir

The Memphis International Airport in Memphis, Tennessee, is 60 miles from Tippah County and has nine major airlines, three commuter airlines, and more than 300 daily passenger flights. Daily direct flights to Amsterdam are available on KLM. Memphis is also the number one cargo hub in the world-it is home to the FedEx Super Hub, a major UPS hub, and an RPS sort facility. Drop off shipments can be made to FedEx as late as 11:00 p. m. for next-day delivery.
